2271 10/10/2006 9:31:43 PM 10/11/2006 Troy Tikalsky ttikalsky@earthlink.net Front heater lines I have removed the curb side panel from the generator compartment to access the coolant lines to the dash heater. There are 3 lines, 2 lines join before going to the heater core and a single line returns. What is the purpose of 2 lines joining before the heater core?

2276 10/13/2006 12:15:34 PM 10/14/2006 Kevin katchison@classiccoachworks.com Genset mounting system We have a 1992 43foot model for sale. Only 119,000 miles. Anyone interested in details is welcome to e-mail me at this address.
My question regards the fact that I was told that the air system must be brought up to pressure before starting the generator, as it is mounted on a pneumatic anti-vibration system. I contend that the mounting system is a sealed hydraulic system. I believe the confusion comes in needing air pressure to operate the slide unit it's on. I've got a bet of two oreos and a snickers bar riding on this one. Who's right?

2277 10/13/2006 12:41:06 PM 10/13/2006 TechTalk Staff TechTalk@newellcoach.com Front heater lines Their are two heater supply lines from the engine block, and one return line. One supply line from the engine block goes through the small auxilliary heaters under the bed and the sofa. After going through these heaters, it joins with a second coolant line from the engine block before supplying the under dash heater. A single return line exits the dash heater.

2281 10/18/2006 8:13:37 AM 10/19/2006 Troy Tikalsky ttikalsky@earthlink.net Front heater lines Thank you. Was the second line run from the engine block for the sole purpose of supplying ample heat to the front heater core or because of flow restrictions?

2294 10/26/2006 3:04:08 PM 10/26/2006 Michael Day mday@hughes.net buying a Newell No specific problems with a 97 that I am aware of. Most likely has the Series 60 Detroit Diesel. Excellent engine. Newells from 1995-1999 seem to be advertised for sale less often than other year ranges. If you haven't already done so, you might check http://www.LuxuryCoachLifestyle.com/....php?a=5&b=179 for a listing of almost 40 available previously owned Newells, of which 5 are 1995-1999.

Q
2298 11/7/2006 7:22:08 AM 11/7/2006 TechTalk Staff TechTalk@newellcoach.com new diesel fuel Owners of vehicles with pre-2007 spec diesel engines should not be overly concerned about the effects of the
new Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) fuel. According to engine and oil industry
experts, the transition to 500 ppm sulfur back in 1993 changed the fuel
chemistry to a much greater degree than introduction of ULSD in October of
2006.

Although the 'process' of reducing the sulphur content (500 ppm to 15 ppm)
reduces lubricity, additives to increase lubricity, and to inhibit corrosion,
are federally mandated to be be added to ULSD fuel prior to its retail sale.
With these additives, ULSD fuel is expected to perform as well as Low Sulfur
Diesel fuel.

2303 11/15/2006 8:15:36 AM 11/17/2006 Michael Day mday@hughes.net new diesel fuel Larry, I have a 1992 Newell with the 500 hp 8V92 and the HT740 4 speed transmission and weighs about 43,500 pounds. I get about 6 mpg with the 12.5KW generator running. That would be about 6.25 mpg without the generator. The Series 60 powered Newells had the Allision 6 speed transmission and got better fuel mileage. In recent years the power has gone up as larger engines have been installed, the weight of the coaches has increased over 10,000 pounds from mine, and some of the coaches are now equipped with the 10 speed ZF transmission. All of these factors, power, transmission and weight, affect fuel economy.
