Default Interior heights?

Something I need to consider is the interior heights of the different years. Are some years available with more head room? I have a boy who will travel with us that is 6'8" and the more room the merrier.

AJ, the measurements on a '76 -'78 I know are the same with a maximum ceiling height of 6' 6" and under the A/C covers it's 6' 2 1/2" front and 6' 3 1/2" rear. The floors on these Newell's must slope the same as a bus from front to back. It would also depend I suppose on the type of flooring you may have.

Now, there are shorter A/C covers then the ones I measured. Another option if the A/C cover clearance is a potential issue would be to go with a Newell with basement air.

I know when you get to the newer years you will gain some head room.

Hope this helps.

When the Series 2000 came out in the 1990 model there were two common interior ceiling heights, 6' 5" and 6' 9". I have the 6' 9" and I like it. In more recent years, the interior ceiling heights were increased. The 2000i Series (starting in 2005) clocks in at 7' 4" interior ceiling height.

Thank you both for the info. It's looking as if we may have to go with a 2005 or later and this may not fit the pocket book. We don't want to borrow to purchase a Newell. We are currently debt free other than normal living expenses and would like to keep it that way.

We have looked at some used Apha's with the raised roof and after seeing a Newell, that brand really makes us cringe. Have also looked at a nice bus conversion with the roof raised as another option.

I told the wife that we could always take a year off from rving and maybe pull it off next year?

AJ, don't know your budget? But, if you know how far you can stretch, we may be able to help you figure out more closely the promise of Newell ownership.

Sure hate to see you go after a bus or down the cheapo alternative line. Now that you have knowledge on the quality of these Newell's, you may not sleep well at night owning something inferior. Besides you would become a Newell Guru like the rest of us.

Anyone out there with a 2000-2004 model that can provide AJ a ceiling height from your coach?
