High Idle adjustment
Anyone know how to adjust the high idle on a Detroit 8V92? The cruise works excellent but the high idle increases the RPM by 100. I'd like to adjust so high idle is 900 - 1000 RPM.

Interesting question Troy. I am reasonably certain that your engine is a pre-DDEC model. Unfortunately, that leaves several posibilities for type of governors which control the idle speeds. Any idea which type your engine has?
I would suggest that you ask that question on http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/DetroitDiesel/
These guys eat, sleep and breathe the two-stroke Detroits. If you are not a member, sign up and they will need your engine ID number which is located on the block on the drivers side.
Your idle speed is good (500-600), high idle should be in the 900-1000 range.

Thanks Brian, on my '92, fast idle is a dash mounted switch rather than using the cruise control.
On the DDEC models, the computer controls fast idle. This was not the case in the pre-DDEC models.

Thanks 2dogs. Tapping the resume switch helped some. Sometimes the idle would increase a little, sometimes no change and sometimes the idle would slowly climb and keep climbing until I turned it off. My guess is there air valve that allows air to enter the throttle circuit when tapping the resume switch. Because the idle change is erratic I'm guessing the control valve is not opening or closing consistently. Does anyone know where the valve is located for high idle? Can it be serviced?

2Dogs sent me the scanned pages for the Bendix Cruise Control manual. If have converted those to a single pdf file and placed it on one of my sites for download. If you would like a copy, click here and then save the file to your computer or open it and print it.
Thanks to 2Dogs for making this information available to everyone.
