Default Hello

Hello
My wife and I just purchased a 1983 Newell. We live in central Indiana and purchased our Newell in Houston Texas. Our first trip was the 1100 mile ride home. Our coach has a 903 cummins engine. I know some about gasoline engines and a little about diesel engines but this our first coach. I have lots of questions and am hoping to get some information from the members of this site that are more knowledgeable about The Newell.

I apoligize in advance for any stupid questions I ask but it the only way I know to learn.

Jack and Sue,

Welcome aboard!!

We are here to help. While I have a series 2000 with the 8V92, there are other members here that I am certain will chime in regarding your Classic model with the Cummins.

Ask away!!

Welcome.

I think you will find a friendly bunch here. We all ask stupid questions. Sometimes we even give stupid answers. Seriously, I think there is a community of folks here that genuinely love to learn about the workings of their own coach, and to experience vicariously the busted knuckles of others.

How was the first 1100 mile trip? Did you buy the coach that the previous owners had put all the refurbishment work into?

Our first trip was great. We did not hurry and we enjoyed the trip. Our Newell is very comfortable to ride and drive in we were surprized. We parked overnight at truck stops on the way home. The generator ran all night to keep the heat going. Our two dogs also enjoyed the trip. The coach got about 7 MPG which I guess is about normal. All in all a good trip. It rained most of the way home and the air windshield wipers take some getting used to.
