Default Do They Run Cool? LED's

In a double pancake LED, can you touch the bulb when powered on and not get hurt? With our current bulb you would receive a severe burn if you touched the original pancake bulbs. I just wanted some confirmation before I order some double pancake LED's for $$$.

They will likely get warm but not burn you hot. I have 5 meter strips of 5050 (very bright) LEDs in my living room coves and they get warm but certainly not light bulb hot............................................... ...............................

Yes, they run cool, get warm, not close to hot.

LED's will run considerably cooler. Has anyone "shot" one with an infrared temperature "gun"?

You are correct a regular bulb will leave you with a server burn. As others said LED lights get warm but you can touch them. I found this video interesting and it's a great test to show how hot of a difference there is.

LED light is up to 85% more efficient than incandescent bulbs and produces significantly less heat.

I just shot my 5050 LED strip in the cove. I pointed the gun directly at several LEDs that had been on for about 20 minutes. They were all in the 91 to 96 degree range.

One of the main reasons we switched to LED is because they are cool to touch. They also reduced heat inside the coach, they last longer and are more resistant to vibration. LED’s consume less energy which makes it great for boondocking as well.
