Default AC question for 96 0r 97 owners

Hey,

This is a bit unusual, but I got a call from a RV tech who was trying to get a Newell owner cooled off. The coach is a 97 and the bedroom air is not working. Specifically the interior fan will not run. It is basement air.

I could not walk him through where to find the evaporater blower unit in the bedroom. He said the only thing that looked like a return air duct was under the bed. It sounds to me like either the blower motor is kaput, or more likely the motor is not getting power due to a faulty relay or loose connection. His comment was it works "some of the time".

Can any of you help? Where is the return air duct and consequently the blower unit in your coach? The tech really can't go any farther until he finds the blower motor. We all know Newell is rather crafty in how they hide things like that in the coach.

Thanks

Hi Richard,

In my 93 Newell which had 3 basement units the return air duct was on the passenger side under a closet. Access to the filter (which I cleaned as needed) was thru a wooden/laminate panel. The panel had no screws - no clips - no velcro and NO handle. Instead it was just a PERFECT FIT and the carpet fibers held just enough pressure on it to hold the panel in place. I couldn't find it either so I did what almost everyone does - I called Newell !

Don't know if the 1996 or 97 models are like that, but I'll bet you a call to one of the service managers would solve your tech's problem.

Thanks Tuga,

The tech will call Newell on Monday, I was just curious.

Now that you are back from Alaska, we are expecting a big post with highlights and some pictures. Inquiring minds want to know.
