Default auto water fill for fresh water

I have an auto water fill solenoid with a switch over the microwave and in the wet bay. It was disconnected when I got it so I replaced the valve. It works great. Question is if it is supposed to turn off when the tank is full or if you have to monitor the tank and turn it off yourself. Does anyone know

Tom

Tom,

Yes it IS supposed to turn off when the water tank gets full. When I got my coach it would over-fill and run out on the ground if I let it go too long. I talked to the Newell folks and the talked me through unclogging a seep hole on a valve in the water bay. The tiny hole in the rubber membrane was clogged. Once cleaned the system works much better but not perfect...it now makes a pipe-banging noise when full but does not run out on the ground.

I am not at the coach so I can't send you pictures, but the valve (on my coach) is in the upper left part of the water bay above the water pump.

Cheers,
bill

I had a friend who owned a Prevost with the auto water fill feature. Over the years he neglected check to see if the fresh water tank was full. One day the auto water fill failed to kick on; he thought he had a full tank of water. Long story short, he ran the tank dry and burned up his 120v water pump! Very expensive lesson!

The auto water fill needs to be visually verified.

ok,

today i turned the autowater fill switch on and forgot about it (not on purpose). several hours later i noticed it and thought to myself i am in for a mess when i go outside and have a look. but....not so. it had shut off a few inches from the top of the tank. there appears to be a sensor at that level on the tank that must shut the solenoid off. no leaks, no water mess. so, evidently it works.

i am guessing that the switch could be left on all the time and it would just refill evertime it got below that sensor on the tank. though i am not going to use it that way.

the campground i am at doesnt have as good of water pressure as the headhunter pump provides. so i have been using the pump for water and just refilling the tank as i need to.

with 5 of us in the coach and showers and lots of toilet flushing, we are using alot of water.

later
