Default Engine Shut Down Override Button

I have one question on my Newell motorhome I recently bought. What function does the over ride button on the dash serve? Phil

The override switch on the dash of my 92 Newell allows the driver to override the DDEC (Detroit Diesel Electronic Control) system if the electronics shut down the engine. It should only be used long enough to get you off the road or out of a dangerous situation in those cases where the electronics shut down the engine to protect it from damage due to insufficient oil pressure, high temperatures, or some other major malfunction.
