Oil reserve tank filler handle gun nozzle!
I went to top off the oil today before leaving for Port Townsend and when I pulled the trigger handle attached to the oil tank, nothing happened. The dial indicator seemed really loose. It sounded like pressure was going into the tank when I opened the valve(yellow handle). When I cracked the red relief valve there was plenty of pressure in the tank. Has anyone had to replace the trigger gun....for lack of a better word. The tank is holding pressure but the gun is not working. Is there anything I should look at before replacing the entire gun? Guess I'll have to fill the engine the traditional way until I can figure this out. Thanks, Jennifer

I got a new one from several years ago and it was an easy replacemet. It is a Graco pump system and you may be able to get it through Grainger or some other supplier.

i guess i would be surprised of the gun itself needs to be replaced. i looked at mine and couldnt see a brand, but on grainger the closest one is a Lincoln model 877 and grainger part number 6Y878. however it is over $400.
these things are designed to be used in incredibly harsh usage and to be used a ton of times every day. my gun only has under 400 quarts that have been used on it. (it has a total meter) and this gun is meant to be used that much every week.
if indeed the gun itself isnt working, i would take it apart and clean it and see what is wrong.
or if it had to be replaced, look for a used one or one on ebay or a cheaper alternative.

on eby they are going for 50-150 bucks for used ones.
amazon has it for $250 new. anyway you look at it, it is an expensive puppy and if there was anything wrong with mine, i would try to fix it.

Hi Brad, No, I'm not trying to use it as the picture shows. That would be impossible! I took the picture after messing with it for awhile and had taken all the air pressure out of the tank. I'm planning on removing the nozzle and cleaning it to see if I can figure out what's up with it. It is very dirty/oily. In regards to cleaning that nozzle, I was going to give the entire nozzle a bath in parts washer..I'm wondering if that is such a good idea? I have looked online for a replacement and hope that I can fix this one. I'm hopeful. I also recently found an air leak at one of the bolts on the bottom of the brake dryer cylinder in the DS engine compartment. There is some blow-by oil around a bolt and onto the cylinder and an air leak sound. Wondering if this is a tighten the bolt issue or if there is a gasket in there that needs replacing? Any ideas? Thanks Brad, Jennifer
