Default Installing LED Lights what Wire size is sufficient ?

Hello Everyone,

Anyhow, my reason for this post is to get feed back not knowing about new wiring of new fixtures for sure I wanted to get feed back from the more experienced owners using LED lights in their newells. What wire size is recommended for LED light use or will the current coach wiring be sufficient?.

Thanks ahead of time and also thanks for the information you all have given me on other questions,

David Carrol

David, you are fine with your current coach wiring for LED's. If anything they draw less current and the chance of them overheating wires is nil. Now I'm speaking on a one for one replacement. Now if your talking about running interior strip lighting, then people do run into a voltage drop issue which can be rendered fairly easy.

What lights are your changing or are your adding addition's like multi-strips? I know a few other members on here have a string of posts referencing the installation of them. I have a family member who installs them on new yachts and if needed I could have him chime in here a little if we don't already have it covered.

16 gauge should be fine. LEDS draw in the milliamp range. Someone else can probably give you an exact milliamp draw per light, but it should be well under the capacity of 16 gauge wire. Anyone else???
