Tom,
I considered removing the trap door over the engine in the rear bathroom, but first I called and talked to Tommy Key w/Newell Coach. He said it can be removed by removing the 4 screws that hold it in place and then pushing up on the trap door itself. He said that most of the time some of the granite tiles are broken getting it out.
I decided not to open mine even though I have spare granite tiles. It just isn't worth the hassle.
If it ain't broke, dont' fix it!
I was at Newell a few years ago and a customer was having his valves set. The Newell tech removed the trap door to gain access. It was really neat to see the head of the engine right there in the middle of the rear bath floor.
Great engineering!
