Default 1985 Newell windshield replacement ideas on availability

Are '85 Newell coach windshields still easy to come by and are they expensive or reasonable?

Yes, they are still available and certainly reasonable compared to the new one piece windshields.

Searching the archives at NewellClassic.com came up with this response for your question:

The windshields for the 1981 through 1989 Newells (coaches with the eyebrow over the windshield) are a standard Chevrolet Astro 95 truck windshield. They are relatively inexpensive. On the 102 inch wide body models, built starting in 1986, a 6" wide center section is an "inside cut" from a complete left or right windshield.

Hopefully this helps.

You have got to be kidding me, are you saying tht a 1995 Chevy Astro van windshield fits a '81 thru '89 Newell Coach? I doesn't look possible. What do they do cut two windshields to get one? I don't even understand what the 6" wide section is all about? I think I'm really confused now.

Thank you MrE for helping me clear the cobwebs from my numb skull. I have never heard of a GMC Astro 95 and had driven a Chevy Astro van. ha

Ok that makes much more sense. That was probably a smart thing the Newell company had done. So some things are very reasonable on price for these Newell's.

from Wikipedia...

The Chevrolet Titan 90 (and similar GMC Astro 95) were heavy-duty Class 8cabovertrucks made by General Motors between 1968 and 1988. When introduced, they replaced the GMC F-Series "Crackerbox" & featured an all-aluminum tilt-cab. Diesel engine choices included Caterpillar, Cummins and Detroit Diesel powerplants.
In 1980, both trucks were redesigned with a bigger grille, which was optional on the SS or Special Series Titan models and Astro 95 in 1978-79.
1980 was the last year for Chevrolet Semi Trucks or Big Rigs (Class 8 Heavy Duty Trucks).
The Titan 90 was introduced in 1969. In 1980 (the last year for The Titan), it was just Titan.
The GMC Astro 95 was introduced in 1968 as a 1969 model and made until 1987. In 1980, the name was just GMC Astro.

The GMC version was more common than the Chevrolet version.
