Default Satellite TV In Motion?

Hello Fellow Newell Owners,

My question is this:

Is anyone running an in motion satellite tv system, If so which provider do you recommend?, I have a King Dome in motion satellite.

Thank You in Advance,

Ron

Ron,

I have a TracStar in motion satellite antenna and I use DirecTV. I think Dish is just as good.

Either way you can watch TV going down the road - Is this a great country or what?

Ron,

When you get a chance, add your coach information in your signature line. It helps fellow posters if they know your model year, length, slides ?, etc. Also whatever other info like tow vehicle, etc.

Thanks, and welcome again to the forum.

I have a TracStar 360 w/Direct TV and can do it all too. It's your Sat dish that determines in motion NOT the provider. I have had Charter,Dish,Direct and they all work that way because of the sat system. Also if you want HD you must have a HD reciever and upgraded HDMI cables, Coax doesn't do it.

If you want Inmotion HD there is only one Dishnetwork, KVH R6

Okay, So if I want/need HD then Dish Network is the only option correct? If that is the case how is their service and price?

Ron and Tuga,
There is HD in motion with the others provided you buy the correct Sat dish and receiver. The DirecTV one is the #24 or #25 model which is also a DVR. You must also have HDMI hookups on your TV and the cables.

Larry:
I don't think you can get in motion HD from DirecTV anymore. When DirecTV put up their new satellite a few years ago the in motion units weren't compatible and became obsolete. I have the Tracvision R6 and get DirecTV in SD but not HD. Your box numbers #24 & #25 are the DVR's I have at home. I think the only option is DishNet.
Thanks,

All,
I was given the info by a few sources, but as Steve indicated my info was dated. I recently updated my TracStar to a 360 Sat dish after their updater box fried my circuit boards and gyro. The booklet that came with the new 360 system indicates that HD is no longer available w/DirecTV and that the #25 box /DVR would no longer be in HD. The addition of a Wineguard HD compatible Sat dish is what can get HD and HDMI cables are required. Sorry about the dated info guys. I called Cobham and confirmed that Steves info is correct and that DirecTV is no longer available for in motion, but can be recieved on a fixed signal Sat dish and Dish and Charter are the only in motion service providers currently and DirecTv should be returning to inmotion at a date yet to be announced. I have been paying for HD service for a couple of years as my boxes did provide the service when first purchased. This post did get me a $60 credit from DirecTv after I called and challenged my past bills as they indicate I was recieving HD, but that hardly covers the cost of the new cables installed and the HDMI adapters for the TV's I bought. Also note that Wineguard makes an HD inmotion dish according to the online support. My eyesight must be getting worse as I never noticed much difference and got used to it.At least i am not paying DirecTv monthly for this service anymore.

Tuga,
You must have HDMI cables or adapters, not coax as I confirmed with my calls today. Also Morris sends a "Hello"....

The difference between SD and HD is like night and day for me! Frankly, in-motion holds no value for me as I normally travel alone and need all my concentration just to drive. I have been super satisfied with the Winegard for HD and DirecTV. Somehow it turns out I can follow my favorite baseball team on Direct without the purchase of a sports package. Go Braves! Russ

Things have sure changed when it comes to motion sats since we sold our last coach. As often as we will be using our coach I don't know if it will make any sense for us. We had issues with both King Dome and another one that originally came on the coach. Now the big deal is HD?

I wonder how to operate half the gadgets in my new used newell. I've been trying to figure out how to get signal since yesterday. I was hoping not to ask for help but forget it I'm asking now. How do I operate the in-motion satellite? acquire signal and so on.
