Hose chafing
I spent much of the past week under my new coach, properly blocked up, servicing items and doing an overall inspection. An issue that I experienced with my last coach came to light with the Newell. The issue is hose chafing. I discovered 6 hoses that had chafing issues. I use a rubber spacer that I tie wrap on to cover the chafed area. This system worked before. I have experienced two hose failures due to hose chafing that I didn't catch--it never happens at a convenient location or time! This is just a reminder for those who try to stay ahead on avoiding problems.
Hope this helps someone...............

Hose Chafing
Tom,
They were air, heater hoses & oil lines that ran from both sides of the engine. A few of them were just chafing against each other. Others were chafing against the block and where they ran above the engine mounts. They ranged from minor to serious. The serious one would cause the hose to fail if I had not caught it. I am going to replace it as general maintenance. By the way welcome home!
Hope this helps..............

Thank You
Want to say thanks to Larry Weikart. Larry told how he broke down due to a DD Procheck hose wearing through. The Procheck is a cannister that sits valve cover high on the right side of a series 60 engine. I checked mine and found a hose from the Procheck was innocently lying on the support bracket for the transmission dip stick tube. Upon closer inspection the hose was chafing on the edge. Although the hose had not been compromised, it was just a matter of time. I wrapped the hose in rubber & tie wrapped it on. The chafing hoses are time bombs just waiting to go off. Although I have spent many hours trying to prevent hose chafing I obviously haven't found them all. Thanks Larry for the heads up as you saved me a break down at some inopportune time!
