Welcome Rooster!! I presume you have looked at the Classics on this site in the Classified section. The Gallery gives an indication of some of the general exterior and interior differences between various year models. Remember that each Newell is unique. Units built within weeks of each other and in the same model year are frequently very different, even having significant differences in the drivetrain.

This is certainly a good time to buy as sales of all RV's are somewhat depressed at the moment. Not sure if you are looking for a fixer-upper or a pristine unit. I have always found that buying a unit in need of a lot of work is a recipe for creating a massive money hole. Being a mechanic, you should be well prepared to maintain a Classic in excellent condition.

Let us know how we can help.

There a 1978 which is owned by Hoosierdaddy (a member of this site) and is listed in the Classifieds for $37,500. It's on the 3rd page of the Classified section. The one you're talking about (the white one with the cool paint job) does have a for sale sign in the rear window, but isn't listed on this site. I'm not sure I've ever seen that one anywhere else for sale...by anywhere else I mean on other RV for sale websites. If I stumble across it somewhere else I'll let you know. From the pictures it looks like a lot of updating has been done to the interior.

In addition to his site, you can find pre-1990 model Newell's at various times on:
http://www.rvtraderonline.com
http://www.motors.ebay.com
http://www.rvt.com
http://www.rvonline.com

For newer model Newell's one of the best additional source is:
