Default Lifeline 8D AGM Deep Cycle Batteries

I have been searching for Lifeline 8D AGM Batteries and I have located a shop that seems to have a decent deal. I wanted your thoughts on the price, Is $406 each a decent price for a 8D Deep Cycle AGM Batteries?

Yes, I would say it's a good price. Do they want cores at that price?

That's an excellent question and one I did not think to ask. However, in our discussion, no mention of cores was made. May be assumed. I"ll confirm and let you know.

I'm guessing they'll want $50-$60 more per battery without Cores but again it's just a guess.

Ron,

That seems like an excellent price. Could you please post the name of the dealer?

Richard said that he and Rhonda are giving me a set of 6 AMGs for Xmas! What a nice guy!

Hi Tuga,

I was speaking with a local BatteriesPlus and no core charge.

Ron:
Lifeline batteries are what I bought ($500 each a year ago), they are made in CA.
There has been an influx of batteries from China but I have no experience with them.
Thanks,

I've been reading up on lithium batteries. There are some being made that are 1/2 the width of an 8D with 200amps and weigh around 50# or so. So in roughly the same space of an 8D you can have 400amps instead of 250amps! And save about 50# per 8D battery. But the really interesting thing is you can discharge these down to about 20% of their rated capacity rather then 60% capacity of a lead acid battery. So if you have 6 8D's = 1500 amp/hours but only about 600 amp/hours usable. With the lithiums you only need 4 batteries at 800amps to get the same usable amp/hours. So you can save about 700 pounds of weight! And it looks like they may last 3-4 times as long. The downside is cost, they are $1200-1500/battery and you need a new charger/management system. So for 6 8Ds at $3000 the lithiums would cost twice as much. But if they last more than twice as long it might be a better deal.
Worth looking into if you need to replace your batteries.

I bought 8 of the lifeline lead/acids for $255 each and use 2 for crankers.

Here is some reading:
http://www.technomadia.com/category/...y/lithium-ion/ (they have already installed these in their coach)
http://www.lithionicsbattery.com/rv.html
http://www.mastervolt.com/automotive...on/mli-24-160/
http://www.lithiumion-batteries.com/...deep-cycle.php
http://elitepowersolutions.com/
http://www.victronenergy.com/batteries/lithium-ion/

Lithium batteries are still in the development stage and hopefully prices will come down in the near future. But what I've read shows that they should be a better solution for our coaches, longer life cycle, lighter weight, more usable amps. I've read some other blogs of rv'ers who have installed these but can't find them right now.
Have fun

Steve,
They are the old fashioned vented caps and I installed a watering system that tells you when the level is low and you pump in distilled water with a hand bulb and 1/2" tube. Works great. I also use 2 Pulsetech Powerplus units on the house batteries to maintain the chemistry and avoid the need for Equalization... Battery life like this should be 5 years + if I get lucky.

I called this morning: price for a GPL-8DL – blade posts AGMs 255 amps deep cycle battery.

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029XJ1UQ/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative =9325&creativeASIN=B0029XJ1UQ&linkCode=as2&tag=aff iliatechie-20">Marine Lifeline AGM Battery - GPL-8DL</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=affiliatechie-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B0029XJ1UQ" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" />

BatteriesPlus $699.99 w/core

Battery World $559.95 w/core

Looks like Battery World is about $140/battery cheaper than BatteriesPlus.

I may just install wet cell batteries when its time to change. My AGM Lifelines are 6 years old.

Don't worry Truk Man, you will be the first one I call when the time comes. I'm not sure how long my AGMs will last. They still hold a pretty good charge. I can go about 20 hours before I start the generator.

Can you quote your prices on GPL 8DL?

If not, PM me.

Tell Morris that Karen and I said HI. Where are you guys traveling to? I know that it is in Michigan but wanted a little better location. I know Morris likes Traverse City.

Larry, do you ride motorcycles with Morris?

Has anyone replaced the 8Ds with 6 volt golf cart batteries? The trays look like they will hold 12 and there are watering systems available that make maintenance simple.
