Engine Air Filters
Just spent 2 days looking for a new air filter for my 1990 model (#215) Napa was the first location that had the canister/filter $260. Found the same filter at a company called TURBO DIESEL AND ELECTRIC in Atlanta "with locations all over SE". $144

Great price if you are looking.

I'm certainly happy I only have to change it every 50,000 miles. On our 94 I have to remove both turbo pipes to change it and that is a tough, very tight area to work in and the filter itself has to be in the proper position just to come out. Has anyone, with the same situation, found a way to make it an easier task?"

Larry, do you have the 8v92 or series 60? My 8v92 is fairly easy to remove.

I found a Dealer for Donaldson Filters in Yum, AZ. They have excellent prices but do not accept Credit Cards or Checks. You may be able to find a local Dealer that sells Filters very competitively, just need cash.

Forest: I have one of the first series 60's and it is a bear to change the air filter! Takes most of a day. I'm sure Newell had some comments about it and probably made a change of some kind. If anyone has my set up and has found a way to ease the task, I sure would like to hear about it.

Larry,
If you could post a picture it would be helpful. I have the series 60, but it only took me about an hour to change the air filter & that included cleaning & polishing.

Steve: Did you have to remove your turbo pipes? I'm not at the coach but will take a pic and add asap! There is no way I could change it in an hour. Newell certainly changed the access in between the 94's and 99's. I'm just wondering if there is a change I could make to make it easier. Like I said, thank the lord it is required only every 50,000 miles.

Larry,
I removed the lower horizontal chrome turbo pipe first. I then loosened the vertical turbo pipe clamp at the air filter. I then unclamped the horizontal air inlet pipe at both ends & removed it. The air filter unclamped & was easily removed. The job looked harder than it was. Now with that being said without seeing a picture, your set up could be completely different than mine.
Hope this helps.....................

Thank you for that info Steve, It may be different. We're on our way to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Ut. I'll take a pic then and post it as soon as I can. My hard drive crashed and I lost a lot of stuff and am having trouble getting on WiFi. Of course I could just stop in Branson and you can demonstrate. If you did that a couple of times, this thick head would catch on. Hope you're having a great 4th! America the Beautiful!
