recovering window covers
howdy,
the window covers that are upholstered needed some help. darlene didnt like the fabric and i was more than game for recovering them. (kinda anyway). after looking at alot of fabric we picked a gray microsuede. darlene and i did them and are actually getting quite good at it.
i didnt take pictures of the old fabric. it was a beige patterned look.
for some reason the top and bottom corners have different radius and the tighter of the two was quite challenging to get covered without ripples. i have no idea why they have different corners.
both sides do it.
here are a few pictures of our handiwork. next we are putting new black auto carpet on the back of them. the old stuff we had to peel off to redo the fabric and we just went ahead and hot new carpeting to put on it.
oh yea, i have basically taken some of the rooms in the house as my newell repair center.
later

Very nicely done Tom and Darlene. I hope you are still able to find somewhere to eat as it looks like you have taken over part of the kitchen - Ha!
The corners on mine are also a larger radius on the bottom than the top. I just think it gives the treatment a less boring look. I like your choice of covering.

Tom,
Looks like it is a good thing that Darlene got that new sewing machine she wanted. Look great!

Had to laugh at the air hose in the kitchen. Maybe that's happened at my place once or so. Seriously, the one have to have tool for any upholstery work is an air stapler.
Nice job Tom

if you came to my house you would laugh at more than airhose in the kitchen. i have airbags, filters, and other parts over in the corner. i think i need to get them out of there soon. the dining room has the things we are upholstering in there as the picture shows. we never use the dining room. i wonder if i took that table and hutch out how many tool boxes i could get in there before darlene noticed?
btw, that air hose is a Flexzilla. if you have not used a flexzilla air hose you have not spoiled yourself. http://www.legacymfg.com/products/dy...uctCode2=B25A0
it coils easily, is soft to the touch and best of all, stays the same in all weather. if it is freezing out, the hose is still soft and supple and easy to use and coil.
i have rubber and pvc air hoses and they hardly get used anymore.

tonite we finished putting the black carpet on the back of the second window cover. since one of the lights is wired in a channel i put a couple of wires in there before gluing the carpet down to not have to run them through the channel later.
they turned out perfect.
of course darlene is a perfectionist so they should be.
i can start putting the salon back together now.
happy monday.
