Default Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine temps

Hi,

do any of you know from your own experience in your coach what are the average engine temperatures on a series 60? in addition, what is the temp where it is considered running hot and what is the temp the ddec gives you a warning and then shut off? this is not about my coach as it has a 8v92.

thanks

tom

Tom,

My experience on my series 60 is that in normal driving conditions it runs at a temperature of between 180 and 185 degrees. However in the mountains climbing steep grades the temp. will get up as high as the 200 to 210 degree area. I've never had one get so hot that it shut off and I hope I don't so I don't know what temp. it will shut off. Hope that gives you an idea.

Bob
