Oil Filter Is Yours Functioning Correctly?
Owner of this website was a fluids engineer who retired from Allison, wrote this article on evaluating your oil filter's performance. It may or may not pertain to you either way I thought it was good information to share.
Are You Getting Your Money’s Worth from Your Aftermarket Filter? | JG Lubricant Services
He is the owner of JG Lubricant Services, so naturally he strongly favors regular oil analysis. However, he makes a good point. If you spend the $$ for high performance or auxiliary filters, it only makes sense to follow up to verify they are actually doing something good for you and your engine or tranny.

Thanks Dom, that link brings up some very good points. Too bad they don't sell oil analysis kits at the drugstore like those EPT kits, just wipe the dipstick and get your results in the privacy of your own garage.

Both JG Lubricant Services and Blackstone Labs provide a detailed analysis.
JG gets $20.99 for a basic oil analysis and $26.99 for the advanced one. Advanced gives a few more numbers and is required for transmission fluid analysis. I think Blackstone may be a dollar or so cheaper for a basic test and they also ship the sample kit for free (you pay when you send in the sample, whereas with JG you pay upfront). For the advanced test for engines & transmissions, I think they are about the same.

I've used Blackstone with good results. They also charge around $20 although that doesn't include oil life tests, just an assessment of various contaminants. The tests required for extended drain intervals are another $6 or $8 if memory serves.
