We've had both the stacking (Kenmore) units and a Korean made combo unit (don't recall the brand but they are common for marine and RV or apt use and retail for $1000 give or take.

Stacking... like a household unit and they work fine, just a bit smaller for loads. Ours had a steel rack setup. Installation was in a Prowler fifth wheel back in the 80s.

We purchased the combo unit and like it just fine. Ours washes, then dries in the same load. It takes a while. It dries to "almost dry" and you have to pull the clothes out. They feel dry once they air out for a minute or two. Works with towels, sheets, levis, underwear. Small loads. We got ours online and saved $200 by asking for a scratch and dent unit. It arrived by freight, had only a superficial small dent at the back where you cannot see it. It has worked well for 6 years. Sure beats using a laundromat or coin-op. To be honest, we have washed a few loads skipping the dry cycle and air dried when we were in a hurry.
