Default Here comes Jed Clampett

Some of you know that Rhonda, Alex, and I are moving to West Virginia. It's a long story, but a wonderful opportunity for me, and a chance for us to live in a different part of the country.

We leave tomorrow, but we do not have a house there yet, and our house is Texas may take some time to sell, for sure. So the company is putting us in temp houseing on the WV end. However, we may be in temp house until the end of the year. Meaning we need to take three seasons of clothes for Alex, Rhonda, and I. Oh yeah, dont forget two desk top computers, printers, and the like. Plus the bare basic cycling toys (like one road bike, one mountain bike, and one tandem), and of course some tools, and maybe stuff the movers won't touch like car paint, and welding torches, and most any kind of liquid. And there are things near and dear like my coffee maker, and kitchen knives. I think you may be getting the picture.

Anyway, we are pressing the Newell into service as a moving machine of sorts. I have to say that I have been quite impressed in that the coach just ate it all. No problem, room to spare. I will go weigh the beast to make sure I am not doing something too stupid with weight. But I can now see why full timers would love the storage capability.

So, with all the toys on the Subie roof rack, and all our pots and pans rattling, the Clampetts pull out of Texas on the way to their next adventure.

Default and up from the ground came a bubbling crude

As a WV native let me say I hope you enjoy this new adventure. A coach can make a great way to move a lot of stuff. I found that out when I needed to collect my daughter and seven of her sorority sisters complete with luggage. We made quite the spectacle under the low roof of the airport arrival's terminals. Have a safe trip. With some of the state's mountains you will find the Subaru is a very popular choice with the locals.

Come and listen to a story about a man named Rich
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his Newell fueled,
Then one day he was aligning his tag axle,
And up off the ground came the rear wheels.

Newell that is, built by hand, Oklahoma born .

Well the first thing you know ol' Rich is a millionaire,
Kinfolk said Rich move away from there
Said West Virginny is the place you ought to be
So they loaded up the Newell and moved to Huntington.

Hill Country, that is.
Bugs, Mosquitas, and green grass.

The Newellee Entrekins!

Well now its time to say good-bye to Richard, Rhonda and all their kin.
And they would like to thank you folks fer kindly droppin in.
You're all invited back again to this locality
To have a heapin helpin of their hospitality
Entrekinstyle that is. Set a spell. Git somethin fixed by Rich.

Y'all come drive yer Newell here now, y'hear?

That is GREAT Tom!! We will all miss Richard. He is not only a good engineer and a good mechanic but he has a heart as big as Texas (well it might get downsized to WV). Take care of Rhonda and Alex.

Have fun up there.

Hey !!!!!

I only moved to a different state, they do have internet in WV you know.

Anyway, the visit to Newell homeplace was fun. I enjoyed the free reign of the shops they permit. I did my own self guided tour, and met some really neat folks. Of course we toured the coaches for sale. I think we'll be staying with the one we have.

I did have Newell do an alignment. Mainly because I did not trust all the work I had been doing my self in the driveway. After all I was using string, and home made jigs.

Ha ha, that was a wasted 500 bucks. The guy said the toe in was perfect. He didn't touch it, The machine they had showed a thrust angle on the rear axles of 0.06 degrees. He laughed when I pulled out my coach log and showed him where I had measured the angle using string, and had the same exact number. He wanted to know how I did that.

They did adjust the camber and toe on the tags, so I guess I did get something other that self satisfaction from the experience.

And one last thing, I also didn't know Tom was a song writer. I might think twice about giving up my day job if I were him, though.

Yesterday, while in the midst of the endless house hunting forays, I spotted what looks like about an 88 40 footer not three miles from where we are staying. I am taking it as a welcoming omen. I have not met the owner (yet).
