Will Towing Vehicle Add Mileage on Odometer
Does anyone know if the odometer on our vehicle will record mileage when towing ? (2010 Honda Odyssey)

Is it really fair when you go to sell your toad to tell someone the car has 100,000 miles on the odometer, but it has been towed an additional 20,000 or 30,000 miles? There are items that still wear when towing a car four down even though the engine is not running.
Other than resale value the only other reason I can see to not want the odometer to to track miles towed would be to more easily track miles for oil changes and other routine service.

Depends, if the person is buying it for a toad then they should understand they added miles and will probably ask.

On our '02 Honda CRV it does not register the towed miles. Not sure how I will sell it when it comes time

Drive train wear is a major concern. It applies not only to oil changes but timing belts, tune ups, etc and these are not affected by towing
Yes tire, shocks will need attention but it is not the same wear and towing should not affect your drive train warranty so it should not show up on the odometer.

An easy check would be what kind of odometer it is. A digital odometer is controlled by one of the many computers and unless you tow with everything powered up then no it will not show mileage gain. The older style mechanical odometer will show towing mileage unless the drive shaft is disconnected.
