Default Resealing Windows on Newell with Caulk, Putty Tape or Butyl Tape?

Hi All. We are resealing windows and want to know what material we should use to reseal them with.

Caulk, putty tape or butyl tape?? Our local camping world store has both grey butyl and black butyl. Does butyl not dry out as fast as putty?? How easy is it to trim butyl tape that sqeezes out from frame??

Our local rv dealers have recommended both silicone caulk and putty.

Thanks for your recommendations and information! We'd like to use whatever will last "forever".

Cheri and Ralph I would suggest silicone caulk or putty like the RV dealer recommended,

I used a the white butyl tape just a few months ago on a couple windows. I understood the only difference from the black was the color. Easy to trim with a razor knife. As it settles in it seems to ooze out a wee bit more with some time, but out comes the razor knife to attack that.
