How About Adding a Side Camera Option to Your Luxury Coach.
Here is a safety idea for those mentioning they wish they had a better side view while driving their coach. Adding side cameras can help you with lane changes, backing and of course cornering your behemoth around corners knowing where your luxury coach rear and toad are. I have never used them but imagine it would take a little getting used to.
It's hard to find a closeup shot. If you have side cameras on your coach, please share if you don't mind.

Is there one available that activates when a vehicle moves in to blindspot/side?

Gordon that is a great question. I would like to know as well. I might add though, I have seen a couple coaches with two cameras on each side feeding either a split screen monitor or switchable channels like a home security system.
Sean, that is a really good price on that system. I have seen this system selling for over a $1000.00 at RV Cams. And other than the instructions being a little weak, the testimonials are really good on this package. And, It includes a new backup camera to boot. Great locate! Thanks!

I was aware of this product, but only as a forward looking detector. I have been out of the business for some time & I guess they have added side sensors

That is a nice set up as well Gordon. It looks like you can buy them from the different truck dealers.

That Amazon system looks like the one I had on my '93 (without the side cameras). Nice system. I'll probably replace the old Sony on the '98 with this one.

I am wondering what a side camera will do that a good set of mirrors cannot do. At least with my mirrors, I can move them up and down electrically.

I think the plus of side mirrors And side cameras together it adds triple the eyes.
My question is it an easy install? Or should I take it some place to be installed?

Chester,
I had the exact same feeling. I, like many, automatically look at the mirrors as I reach for the turn indicator, as my father taught me 50 years ago. I did add new mirrors for better visibility.
I think I would only go to side cameras if they would activate & tell me when I have a potentional problem; Like the new active backup detection systems in cars.

The rear view system that I bought has spots to hook up two more cameras. I think a nice addition would be a couple of side monitors aimed at my blind spots that are always on the split screen. I normally try to know exactly what is in front, behind and on both sides at all times when I'm driving, where they would really come in handy is maneuvering through congested traffic when I have to merge left or right to stay on my designated route.

Jon you are right it would come in handy for maneuvering through traffic. If anyone has these installed please let us know your feedback I would love to know if you have found them to be beneficial or not.
