Cool newell coach inadequate clearance to have tag axle duels

Has anyone put duels on the tag? i was thinking that would be nice to have a spare just pull up on a 2x6 and pull off the outer tire? Brian

The way my tag is constructed, there is inadequate clearance to have duals on the tag. Downsides: more rolling resistance, more weight (extra wheels and tires), and not needed for carrying capacity since tags carry less weight than the front axles.

Brian,

Usually carrying a spare tire is a good idea depending on the size tire. Some tires (315/80R22.5 like on my steer axle) are hard to find when you are away from home. However, 11R24.5 tires (which most of the older Newells have) can be purchased in any good truck stop along the interstates. It is a very popular tire. What size tires do you have on your coach?

11R24.5 It was just a thought since i was going to buy new steer tires and a spare would be nice. Brian

where in the world would you keep a spare? i dont have anywhere i could put one. if you always pulled a big trailer i guess. man they are heavy when mounted on a wheel. then you have to have the capability to get the lugs off. unless you were just counting on a towing service change it for you if needed.

I'm with you Tom,, I know that some of the busnuts carry a spare. Some of the old commercial busses even had a spare tire storage area (behind the front bumper). I try to keep good tires on my Newell and just be prepared to break out the Credit Card if I have a flat while "on the road".
